BRUSHY VS. “THE TINTYPE”
Comparing The Face
There are many photos of Brushy Bill available. While it is probably true that most of them came from Brushy’s own photo collection some believe that one or more of them are not true photos of Brushy.  The photo shown here has been selected for use in comparison with the tintype because it is so widely accepted as a true Brushy photo and because his reported age of 27 to 29 in this photo is closest to that of Billy’s age in the tintype.  The Discovery Channel put together a documentary on Billy a few years ago that included photo comparisons of Brushy at age 90.  The results indicated Brushy was not the man in the famous Billy The Kid tintype due mainly to the shorter distance from lower lip to chin.  They failed to consider the fact that Brushy had no teeth left at age 90 and was not wearing dentures.  This oversight invalidates their negative results as you will see demonstrated here.

While it can not be “proven” that the man in this photo and the man in the tintype are one and the same, in the pages that follow, I will attempt to demonstrate why I believe it is both possible and probable that they are.  Please click the pistol to continue.
